Inca Trail Tours - Hiking to Machu Picchu - Inca Trail in Peru
The Inca Trail in Perú is the most famous trek in South America and many trendsetters in the domain of tourism, such as Lonely Planet, National Geographic and Wikiexplora, placed it as one of the top treks in the world. The highly epic Inca Trail is indeed a fantastic outdoor adventure. The Inca Trail Trek consists in just 26 miles (43km) along beautiful mountain scenery, lush cloud-forest, subtropical jungle and, of course, a stunning mix of Inca paths composed of paving stones, ruins and tunnels. The final destination of the Inca trail cannot be beaten: the infamous Machu Picchu, also known as the mysterious "Lost City of the Incas".
The Inca Trail to Machu Picchu (also known as Camino Inca) involves three overlapping trails; and as it is located in the Andes mountain range, while hiking the Inca trail to Machupicchu you will be offered the opportunity to pass through several types of Andean environments.
About the Inca Trail permits: concern about overuse leading to erosion has led the Peruvian government to put in place a limit on the number of people who are able to hike the Inca trail each season. As a result, advance booking are mandatory, especially during the high season (June to August). Indeed only 500 people can daily use the Inca trail, including guides and porters, so needless to say every entry is highly coveted.
The trail is closed every February for cleaning.
